When should customers sign my waiver?
Pick the earliest moment that fits how people buy. Before add to cart suits rentals and activities tied to certain products. At checkout suits a waiver every order needs. After purchase emails a link once someone buys. Send manually is for waivers you send yourself.
The four options
- For specific products. The waiver appears before a linked product goes in the cart. Best for equipment rentals, adventure activities and fitness classes.
- At checkout. The waiver appears when the customer clicks checkout. Use it for every order, or only when a linked product is in the cart. Best for general liability, age checks and terms.
- After purchase. esigned emails a signing link once someone buys a linked product. Best for courses, camps and appointments, where the person signing may not be the buyer.
- Send manually. You email a link whenever you need a signature. Best for events, business agreements and one-offs.
The first two also work at your Shopify POS register. You can switch a document between before add to cart and at checkout later from its Signing moment card, and signatures already on file are kept.
Avoid two active documents that cover the same products at different moments, or a customer may be asked twice. esigned warns you when that happens.
